As of Monday morning, TikTok announced that Oracle will be the social platform’s new technology provider, hosting all U.S. user data and securing computer systems to ensure security. The email from TikTok’s business team also explained that both Walmart and Oracle will take up to 20% cumulative stake in the company, while also expanding TikTok headquarters in the United States. This will lead to an increase in job positions - 25,000 expected new hires! Four of the five TikTok board members are American, which will also increase security and provide us with more say in decisions regarding the app as a whole in the U.S.

So what does all of this mean? According to TikTok headquarters, there will be no disruptions to current campaigns. Content creation and ad campaigns will continue to run and be available to all users. So if you are a business who is interested in using TikTok as a platform to run advertisements, now is the time to start!

With over 800 million monthly users, TikTok has become one of the top social media platforms for content creation. This number may be high, however many brands and businesses have not caught on yet. TikTok can be an effective way to gain awareness, engagement, purchases, and other actions towards your company. TikTok offers tools similar to Instagram and Facebook that can help you create, deliver, and optimize ads. You can pick between a daily budget or a lifetime budget. You can target your audience with different interests, demographics, and descriptions. You can choose from five different styles of ads depending on what your goal is (awareness, a purchase, etc.).

With the update on TikTok’s new technology provider and its rising popularity as an app, businesses have a great opportunity to increase their  brand awareness and online sales. Using TikTok as another advertising tool can be very beneficial for your business, no matter what your goals are!
