Instagram has recently launched Reels - a new way for users to create content through short video clips and then to share them to the Explore page, or to their own stories and Reels tab on their profile. Very similarly to Tik Tok, Instagram Reels are 15 second videos with music that allow you to share content to other users whether that be directed towards marketing your business, making new dances to your favorite songs, or even just funny, creative, and relatable videos.
HOW TO CREATE AN INSTAGRAM REEL
Creating an Instagram Reel is quite simple. Click on your profile photo as if you were wanting to make a story, then, at the bottom of the screen where it says “Story”, click on the “Reels” option that is listed right next to it.
You can then either record a video directly from Instagram, or use a previous video you have made from your camera roll. You can pause and continue the video depending on the format you want, add captions, stickers, drawings, and filters.
You’ll then pick a song to add your video to from the list created by Instagram, or from your own personal downloaded playlists.
Once you're all finished creating your video, you can share it to friends and family with the “Private” setting, or share it to everyone using the “Public” setting.
To watch Instagram Reels, you simply click on the Explore page, and the first Reel video will appear at the top of the page. Click on the video, and scroll down to continue watching videos that are directed towards you and your interests.
OUR PREDICTIONS ON THE PLATFORM
Tik Tok has generated over 2.3 billion downloads. It has been a very popular app among Gen Z users but has recently attracted an older audience as well. Instagram Reels is Facebook's combat to Tik Tok and has the potential of being a successful way to bring in new users and increase the amount of time spent on the app each day. It can also be a great way for businesses to market and share their products/services through entertaining and informative videos!
But business blogs still remain one of the most essential - and increasingly more important - revenue sources to fuel user engagement, trust, and authority. This helps to propel each stage of the buyer experience: awareness, consideration, and final decision-making.
George Orwell’s “Big Brother” concept has been around for more than half a century — and since the inception of the Internet and social networks, even the most stoic and “rational” individuals have considered the possibility of its reality. While we cannot confirm that we are not part of the Truman Show, we do know that tech giants — like Google — don’t actually have the entire picture. They’re just really good at making assumptions. And you can see those assumptions right here, right now.
The year 2020 was historic for countless reasons, especially here in the United States — with 9.5 million acres of land burned by wildfires, $10.4 billion in toilet paper sales nationwide, at least 15 million marchers for the Black Lives Matter movement, and nearly 350,000 COVID-19 deaths, we all lived through ups and downs. The digital marketing industry was no exception to this historic 2020 rollercoaster, and the numbers are here to prove it.
